Giving back to the Kansas City community during the holiday season

The giving season is here and the Kansas City community is gearing up for lots of wonderful projects to give back. From Waldo to Westport there are a variety of ways to get involved and make a positive impact on the Kansas City community.

Turn the Page KC Giving Tuesday online book drive

Giving Tuesday is a global movement of generosity. Local businesses, families, community centers, schools, and charities come together to give back to their communities. This year for Giving Tuesday, Turn the Page KC will be holding an online book drive where we will be taking donations for book donations throughout the month and then using the proceeds to supply books for local kids to have at home. We ask that you consider donating to Turn the Page KC on Giving Tuesday or the weeks leading up to it. Donate here!

Holiday party book drive

Hold a book drive at an annual holiday party. Encourage your guests to bring in new or gently used kids books to donate to the Turn the Page KC book drive. Get in the spirit of giving with these great holiday books to either donate or share with your own family.

Serving Thanksgiving dinner with Phoenix Family

Volunteers are invited to help give children, families, and seniors living in low-income housing warm Thanksgiving memories by serving meals with Phoenix Family. Phoenix Family is serving meals throughout the month of November to their residents. Each meal only takes a few hours and there are many dates and times to choose from. Groups and families are welcome to help! These are always very popular events for volunteers, so sign up soon to make sure you can be a part of this tradition! Sign up here!

Volunteer with Lead to Read KC

Lead to Read KC is always looking for volunteers to be a part of their readers program. Take time to go read with a student in one of the schools in the KC community. All you need to do is sign up for a time at one of the participating school and take about 30 minutes once a week to go read with kids at the school. See more information here!
